Heading to the rest home 「福祉の杜」訪問: September 18, 2007

レベッカ先生より

Today we had only a brief morning routine as we are heading to the rest home today. A quick snack and it was time to get going.

We arrived at the rest home at 10 am. Kimie maked a short greeting to introduce Y’s Preschool to the ladies and gentlemen. Then the students introduce themselves telling the people their name and age in English.

We perform a few songs for the ladies and gentlemen. We sang Skidamarink, Seven Steps, Two little black birds, BINGO and Head and Shoulders. They all enjoyed the songs very much. We then sang some songs with the elderly people in Japanese.

When the children were finished singing they gave the elderly people the medals they had made earlier in the week. Then we all had photos to remember the day.

We listened to one of the men play a couple of songs on his harmonica. The children were liked to listen to him play.

Then we did some rhythm exercises with T.S. leading us, “San hi”.

Lastly we played some games. The children took turns throwing rings on to a stick held by another student to see how many they could get on, and then they would swap. We played this for some time as everyone was having so much fun they didn’t want to stop.

Before leaving the rest home staff was kind enough to give all the students a bag full of treats each. The students were very excited.

We said good bye to the ladies and gentlemen and then headed back to school, enjoying a juice on the way. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed themselves.

After lunch the students watched Nemo on DVD to learn more about some of the ocean creatures before we head to the Aquarium on Friday.
