How to help children to learn to keep order but without taking their fun away: May 11, 2007
ジュリアン先生よりSinging the “hello song” and group songs to cheer kids up! Children danced lively and were very happy. "Hickery, dickery dock", "close your eyes open your eyes" were some of the selected songs for the day.
Rompers reviewed some sentences like “What is this?” as well as answers like “It’s a ~”; to drill the sentences we used flash cards, to begin we would give children hints about what the cards were by performing them in charades.
This was useful to keep kids attention. In order to get the flashcard you had to raise your hand and guess, at the end we counted the flashcards to reinforce numbers.
After this activity we played the bus game.
Before playing the bus game we teach students the meaning of basic traffic signs (ex. turn right, left, stop, go straight). Further more, we used traffic lights that students made in the craft class.
Finally to make the game more interactive and fun we used picture cards that were placed on different walls and corners.
During the games, teachers asked children many questions like “Should I turn right or left?”, “Do you want to go to the park or to school?”, etc.
Teachers have created a new initiative that helps children to learn to keep order but without taking their fun away.
We also give students the important chance to choose where they want to go. At each area there are different activities and children can move freely from one control area (CA) to another, but to do so, they have to ask first.
Goodbye routine: singing the goodbye song and reading a book. After the named activities have finish children make a line in the green line that was placed in the entrance of the main room.
